The Soviets saw chess as embodying their revolutionary ideals. It was a game of skill, and the USSR prided itself on its intellectual talents. It was cheap, and anyone could play it. And to Soviet leaders, its back-and-forth dynamic reflected the dialectical concept of history espoused by Marxism.
This beautiful chess set was made in Russia, Irkutsk in 1982. It was used as Souvenir for tourists. Chess board is really clean, well maintained - in perfect condition. There are nice hand painted Soviet motives surrounded on the chess board which seems really Soviet Style. Chess figures are made of wooden and they also have same hand painted motives. Definitely vintage taste!
This beautiful chess set is absolutely suitable for chess FANS, Retro lovers or collectors. Maybe it can be gifted to your near or dear one for special days or birthdays.
