The Soviets saw chess as embodying their revolutionary ideals. It was a game of skill, and the USSR prided itself on its intellectual talents. It was cheap, and anyone could play it. And to Soviet leaders, its back-and-forth dynamic reflected the dialectical concept of history espoused by Marxism.
This beautiful chess set was made in Vitebsk, Belarus. Probably 1980's. Chess board is bit scratched but in really good condition. Chess figures are made of wood, hand painted and beautiful Russian Matryoshka style. There are nice white daisy motives on every figure. Inside of the board, you can put every chess figure on it's own place which makes it really comfortable by starting and ending. Definitely vintage, nice Soviet Design!
This beautiful chess set is absolutely suitable for Soviet and chess FANS, Retro lovers or collectors. Maybe it can be gifted to your near or dear one.
